ST. PATRICKS DAY
15th March,2012 children
celebrated St. Patricks Day. A brief
introduction was given about this day to all the
children. Nursery kids made the special pot of
Gold coins, they painted coins and sprinkled
glitter. Playschool made Shamrock puppet which
is the symbol of this day.

Field Trip to a Garden
As an extension to the Social
Science unit, the students of Grade 2 were taken
on a field trip to a garden.
The students observed the route from their
school to the garden by noting down the street
names and important landmarks on their way to
the garden. They also observed the different
sections of the garden and made a note of
important places to be designed in the garden
map. It was an enriching and fun filled learning
experience for the children as they thoroughly
enjoyed the trip.

HOLI
Holi hai …the festival of
colours was celebrated with lot of enthusiasm by
the Playschool and Nursery Kids on 7th March,
2012. The children were given a brief
introduction on the festival and its importance
in India. The fun part was the Holi greetings
which the Nursery kids made for their loving
parents by making palm prints on the card. The
playschool kids did water fun play and had lots
of fun. The children really enjoyed the
festival.

Field Trip to Cloth Factory
To maximize the learning
opportunities and to provide an educational
activity that links into the curriculum, the
children of Grade-1 were taken to the nearby
Cloth Factory on Friday, 1st March 2012.
The children gained knowledge about the various
stages involved in the production of fabrics
like cotton, silk, rayon and nylon. They were
explained about the natural and man-made
fabrics. Children were shown the samples of
different types of fabrics and were briefed
about the process involved in the manufacturing
of the garments.
It was truly an interesting and knowledgeable
trip for the children.

Purple Fun Day
Colour fun days is loved by
all children and so did nursery kids on 24th
February,2012 as they celebrated Purple Color
fun day.
All kids were dressed in purple colour clothes,
some even wore matching shoes and girls matched
their accessories like hair bands and clips with
their purple outfit. In all a fun purple day.
The day was brimming with activities like Purple
Collage, Purple Streamer Race, Noisy Purple and
Dancing with Purple Streamers added the
excitement

VISIT TO THE FIRE STATION
Our little Vibgyor Nursery
fire fighters visited the Fire Station on 23rd
February 2012 during school hours. The kids saw
the fire engine, the fire men dressed in their
special uniform, saw their tools and how they
used the hose pipe to put off the fire.
They had super fun and learned a lot about our
brave firemen. They heard how the alarm rings
and how these men dress up and drive to the
site. It was a great learning experience for the
kids about one of the community helpers.

from 14th February to 18th February 2012
CHECK YOUR TEETH DAY
On 18th February,2012 an
awareness on keeping the teeth healthy and clean
was given to Nursery children. A dentist visited
the classroom and discussed the four steps about
keeping their teeth clean. They were instructed
on how to brush their teeth and keep them
healthy by eating the right kind of food. The
day ended by singing songs related to the topic.
Overall it was a very informative session
smacking cake. It was a real treat for them.

SHOEMAKER AND THE ELVES
As a part of the ongoing
theme," People At Work”, a Special day was
celebrated by the children of nursery –Shoemaker
and the elves on 17th February,2012.
Here the children were introduced to the cobbler
in the form of a story. The teachers enacted the
story in the class through innovative teaching
aids. Children were also shown the tools used by
a cobbler. The children were extremely
fascinated by the puppet show and happily danced
along with them.

Valentine’s day
On 14th February 2012, we
celebrate valentines day. A day when you express
your love to your loved ones. So our tiny tots
celebrated this day with special people their
friends, teachers in school. Children were
explained how to celebrate, why to celebrate and
with whom they can celebrate this special day.
Children sang songs related to valentines day.
Nursery children were given ‘I love you’ cards
for their parents which they happily took home.

WHAT DO CHEFS DO?
We all love cakes and cookies
and children love them the most. To make this
experience more joyful, children
of Nursery celebrated a special day,” What do
chef’s do?” on 9th February,2012 The class was setup like a
bakery with mock breads, buns, cakes and
pastries. A parent was invited to give a
special demo on baking of a cake. She came
pretending to be a Baker and mixed the
ingredients in front of the
children and decorated the pre prepared cake
with the icing on it. Later the children
relished the lip
smacking cake. It was a real treat for them.

ANTS GO MARCHING
ON 9TH FEBRUARY 2012,
Playschool children celebrated a special day
“ANTS GO MARCHING”. Children were dressed
up as ants – red and black. Session started with
ant parade. All children along with teachers did
ant parade.
Later they sang ants go marching rhyme. They
also had a music and movement session on ants
parade song. It
was an incredible experience to see our little
ones parading together

CARPENTER VISIT
Our Nursery children had a
special ‘Carpenter Visit Day on the 8th February
2012. The school carpenter
visited the classroom and demonstrated the use
of different carpentry tools and how he used
them to make
furniture. This was followed by an art activity
in which the children made a tree out of saw
dust and then
printed leaves for the tree. The carpentry tool
corner displayed tools like peg sets and toy
hammers. The
children were encouraged to use them and pretend
to be carpenters. It was a busy day for our
little
carpenters at work.

DOCTOR / NURSE DRESS UP DAY
As kids we enact being DOCTOR/
NURSE, so a special day was organised for
Nursery kids on 7th Februray,2012. They came
dressed as doctors and nurses and were
acquainted with their importance in our lives.
The children pretended to be doctors and nurses
checked and treated little dolls which were
their patients. All kids were excited and had
super fun being Doctor/ Nurse on this special
day. They sang songs related to the topic and
had loads of fun.

CHINESE NEW YEAR
Playschool and nursery
children celebrated “Chinese new year”. Chinese
new year is celebrated by people of china in
January or February. The children were briefed
about the importance of this day and how people
of china decorate roads with flags, lanterns,
etc. people go for walk and see huge golden
dragon dance, parade , burst crackers, wear
animal mask and eat vegetarian dish “jai”.
Children were having fun doing the activity with
the teachers help. As follow up activity play
school children made fire cracker lights- blow
painting with straw and glitter work on it and
nursery children made tiger finger puppet.

Traffic Policeman Visit
Stop Ready Go… says the
Traffic policeman.. 1st February,2012 a group of
brave Traffic Policemen visited our school. the
basement was set up as a crowded road, with
traffic signals and zebra crossing. They
instructed the children to follow traffic rules
and made them go around the footpath and cross
over zebra crossing. A great effort from the
Mumbai Police to educate our children about
traffic rules.

Visit To the Garden
Children of Sr.KG went to Mind
space Garden. Objective of this trip was to make
them familiar with the nature around us, to show
them different plants. Children were taken
around the entire garden to show them different
plants. After they
went through the entire park they enjoyed more
on the slides and see-saws. Children were then
taken to the shade and snacks were served to
them

Clean City Green City
This activity was done by
Sr.KG where children were made aware about
keeping their environment clean and also teach
them about sorting garbage. Two tubs were made
where sorting of recycled wastes and other
wastes which can’t be recycled will go in
another tub. Children had to sort the garbage
and put it in the respective tubs. Children wore
their earth pal badges and with broom and trash
cans they were clean the litter that was spread
around.

Visit to Irla Fish Aquarium
Children of Jr.KG went to the
Fish Aquarium at Irla for the reinforcement of
the Theme Marine Life. Children were very
excited to see fishes and were able to relate to
the concept they did in the class. All the
children were given a chance to move around and
view the fishes, teachers gave them a
description about the fishes. Teachers explained
the children how the tank is cleaned. Children
were encourage to ask questions to the concern
person at the aquarium. Overall it was a
wonderful and informative field trip

Special Activity - Underwater Creatures
Children of Jr.KG celebrated
Special Day – Underwater Creatures, where the
children were informed to get dressed as a sea
creature and speak about the creature they have
dressed like.
It was great to see them coming up and speaking.
Cooking activity was also the part of the
special day, Children enjoyed making Pina
Colada, they mixed the ingredients given to them
and garnish using a lemon slice on the rim of
the glass and enjoyed the drink.

Children of playschool
celebrated a special day “creatures come alive”
on 24th January 2012. Children came dressed as
sea creatures. Children enjoyed a lot seeing
themselves and their friends as sea creatures.
It was a good way of revising a concept.
Children were able to identify all sea
creatures. It was a very cheerful day.

Alphabet Treasure Hunt
Abcd …the alphabets which
children learn in their early childhood days. A
day was dedicated to these characters and a
special treasure hunt was organised on 18th
January,2012, where they had to guess the
alphabets by recognising the concrete objects
showed to them and then had to hunt the letter
hidden in the class. Children really had good
fun and took lot of interest to find the hidden
alphabets. This activity was thoroughly enjoyed
by the students.

PAJAMA PARTY
On Monday children from
playschool section had celebrated pajama party.
Children had came dressed in their pajamas and
brought their favourite toy to school. A room
was setup depicting night scene by putting stars
and moon. Children were explained about their
bed time and morning routine. The children
pretended to sleep with their favourite toy
,while the teacher narrated them a story. It was
a very comfortable and a cozy day for our little
ones.

Makar Sankranti
Children of Playschool and
Nursery celebrated Makar Sankranti on 13th
January,2012. To celebrate the 1st festival of
the year, children of playschool did palm
printing on beautiful newspaper kite cutouts and
nursery did finger painting and sticking on the
kite cutouts.
A brief introduction of the festival was given
to them. The most exciting thing was the kite
flying activity which the children enjoyed doing
the most.

Busy Busy Spider Day
It was a day with lots of
action as the children of Nursery dressed up as
spider, mosquito, different farm and pet animals
to celebrate the special day, “Busy Busy spider
day” on 12th January 2012
The children enacted their roles as teacher told
them the story of the busy spider and the child
dressed up as one enacted to spin the web .
As the theme of the month is “Creepy Crawlies",
it was an innovative way to reinforce the
concept of spider.

TU B SHVAT
On 11th of January PLAYSCHOOL
and NURSERY celebrated TU B SHVAT festival to
celebrate the birthday of the trees. This
festival stared from Israel. Children were
taught the importance of this festival. Children
were introduced about the festival to where in
people plant new saplings and eat grapes,
pomegranate, dates, figs and olives. In the end
of the session children sang happy birthday song
for the trees and had a follow up activity.
Playschool children did coloring on the tree
cake and nursery children did palm printing as
leaves on the tree cut outs. Children were very
happy to know that even trees have birthdays.

Orange Day
Orange colour of the bright
Sun, Colour of the juicy yum fruit, and many
more things. So it was apt to celebrate a day on
this beautiful colour ORANGE, nursery celebrated
this day on 5th January, 2012 with fun and
frolic. Children dressed up in ORANGE colour
clothes and the class was decorated according to
the theme of the colour . We played few puzzle
games and danced to the music with Orange
Streamers. Children did a special collage with
different cut out of Orange objects.

Field trip to zoo
As an extension to theme 5
playschool section were taken for field trip to
Byculla zoo on 15th November 2011. Children
enjoyed seeing different types of wild animals

and also different types of birds at the zoo.
Overall it was an amazing learning experience
for the children.

CHILDRENS DAY
“The Future of Tomorrow” our
loving children of Play school and Nursery
celebrated Children's day on14th NOVEMBER in
school with lot of excitement and enthusiasm.
Chocolates are favourites of little children so
the theme was CHOCOLATES on this day. They came
in colorful party dresses , there was a special
Cookie Making Activity for the kids. They danced
on fun songs and had a blast.
The surprise event organized by the teachers was
the Great Puppet Show.

JUNGLE PARTY
As an extension to the theme -
Pet, farm, and wild animals, on 11th November
Playschool children had a jungle party.
Classrooms were decorated with creepers , trees,
dens, ponds, flowers and wild animals which were
made by the parents . Children came in dressed
up as wild animals. They also saw a movie about
jungle life. They loved watching the movie and
could identify with all the wild animals. It was
a wonderful and an enjoyable day for the
children.

FRAMYARD CABARET
On 8th November 2011 the
Playschool children celebrated FARMYARD CABARET
– a music and movement session was conducted for
the children . They were dressed in different
farm animal costumes such as cow , pig, hen,
horse, cow scarecrow,etc. The children loved
enacting themselves in that costume making
animal sounds , dancing to the rhythm of the
music with the help of the tambourines. It was
an overall fun enjoying session for the
children.

Partying traditionally
On 14th October 2011, Nursery
and Playschool children came dressed in ethnic
wear. The teacher explained the significance of
Diwali to the students. The Playschool children

As an extension to the topic
“Wild animals “the Nursery children were taken
on a field trip to the zoo on the 23rd of
September.
The purpose of the field trip was to show the
wild animals in the zoo. They were excited to
see the different wild animals like monkey,
tiger, leopard, deer, etc. The field trip was
very informative for the children. They enjoyed
the field trip.

Lion and the mouse
On 19th September our Nursery
students brought to life the story of ‘The Lion
and the Mouse’. A few students dressed as lions
and some dressed as mice for the enactment. A
puppet show depicting the story was presented
and then they dramatized the story with great
zest. This helped them to gain confidence and
gave each one an opportunity to dramatize the
story. It was indeed a unique way to provide
them an opportunity to exhibit their innate
talent.

Potato party
On the 12th of September 2011,
the Playschool children celebrated a special day
“Potato party” in their respective classrooms.
3 corners were set in the classroom like potato
printing and Mr. potato head, peeling and
mashing boiled potatoes and sorting small and
big potatoes.
The children did different activities in all the
3 corners. The reinforcement of the concept was
done through hands on experience.

Ganesh celebration
Ganesh Chaturti was celebrated
by Pre-Primary on the 8th September 2011.
Children were told about the distinct traits of
Lord Ganesha like his fondness for modak and
about his association with the mouse. A small
pooja corner was set up and the teachers
performed the aarti. The children made different
art activities like toran, leaf printing ganesha
and wall hanging.

Dalmatian comes to school
On the 6th September 2011, a
special day, Dalmatian comes to school was
conducted in the Nursery classrooms.
2 children from each class dressed as a
Dalmatian dogs and came to school.
The teacher introduced the dogs in the
classrooms and spoke about it .
The Movie “101 Dalmatian” was shown to the
children. The children did an art activity of
making a dog mask on this day .The special day
was filled with fun and excitement for them.

On the 5th of September 2011,
Playschool children celebrated a special day Mom
“n”
me veggie day. Moms came into the classrooms for
an hour.
The classrooms were decorated with vegetable
cutouts.
3 corners were setup in the classrooms:
Magic painting :the children did magic painting
on their shopping paper bags.
Cooking vegetable salad: the children made
healthy and yummy salad with the help of their
moms.
Vegetable sorting: the children did vegetable
sorting in this corner.
By the end of the day the children ate the salad
and took their shopping bags home.

Ramzan Eid
Children of Nursery and
Playschool celebrated Ramzan Eid in their
classes on 30th August 2011. The teachers
explained the significance of this festival
which is celebrated by the Muslim community.They
were told that the muslims end their month long
fasting on this day making sheer Khurma and
biryani.they also go to the mosque and pray. The
teachers and the children hugged each other from
side to side and greeted “Idd Mubarak” means
“Happy Idd”. The children were made to taste
Shree Khurma and dates as their Iddy.

Blue Colour fun day
On 29th August 2011 Nursery
children celebrated a special day “COLOUR FUN
BLUE DAY”.
The classrooms were decorated using blue colour
puppets, red objects, blue balloons and
streamers.
The children as well as teachers came dressed in
blue. 3 corners were set up in the classroom:
Starch painting : the children did messy
painting with blue colour starch.
Sorting Blue beads: the children sorted blue
beads in this corner.
Building a tower using Blue blocks: the children
made big and small towers in this corner.
The children danced to the tune of the Streamer
fun’ song with Blue colour steamers in their
hands.
Indeed it was a special day for them.

Sense station
To make the children learn
about the various senses: seeing ,hearing,
smelling, tasting and touching and to provide as
many sensory experiences as possible, a special
day “SENSE STATIONS” was conducted for
Playschool children on 29th August 2011 .
Different rooms were set up pertaining to the
different senses and the related activities were
put up by the teachers .The children who had
come along with their parents, used all their
senses for a hands on experience at the various
sense stations. A special shadow play puppet
show was also conducted .
The parents and the children took the
opportunity to actively participate in all the
activities.

Power of values
The workshop on Power of
values was conducted on 27th August for
teachers. It laid an emphasis on the definition
of values, organizational values ,core values of
Vibgyor, strategies to inculcate values. .
Different activities related to values was done
with the group. The three main components of
core values were discussed and linked to the
VIBGYOR Curriculum. The main objective of the
“Power of Values” module was to create awareness
in the minds of the teachers of the broad values
espoused by VIBGYOR, thus inculcating in them a
sense of personal and professional pride in the
success and growth of self and the organization.

Parsi New year
On 19th August, 2011 the
Pre-Primary children celebrated the Parsi New
year or Pateti in their respective classrooms.
The children learned about this festival of the
Parsis by visiting the fire temple where they
offer sandalwood. The children were also told
how Parsis decorate their houses, make rangoli
and the special traditional food and drink they
make for the day. The special traditional dress
called a Dagli with a parsi cap was shown to

On the 12th August Nursery and
Playschool children celebrated India day with a
great spirit in their classrooms.
The children and the teachers came dressed in
tri - coloured clothes. The teacher briefed the

wherein the Nursery children made flag badges.
Later the children sang the National Anthem and

Buddy Day
On 30 July, Jr.KG children had
a fun filled day planned for them called ‘The
Buddy Day’. They came dressed in their party
attire along with their best ‘buddy’. The day
began with the introduction of the child and
his/her buddy. They had a roaring time dancing
with their ‘buddies’ and then made a star shaped
photo frame as a surprise gift for them. Later,
they relished sharing the snacks with their
friends. This special day was both exciting and
interactive.

HOTEL VISIT
A visit to Courtyard Marriott,
on 25 July, was an exciting and enjoyable field
trip for the Sr. KG students. A hearty welcome
by the staff of Mariott was followed by the
children experiencing the check in process.
Every nook and corner of the hotel was visited
by them, including the reception, the kitchen,
the restaurant and the banquet hall. They were
then taken to ‘Pearl Hall ‘where they relished
sumptuous snacks. Last but not the least, our
students expressed their gratitude to the
General Manager and the staff for their
hospitality.

Parents’ Day
On 22 July the students of the
Playschool, Nursery and Jr.KG celebrated
Parents’ Day. After the story telling session,
students made crowns for their parents and
decorated them with sequins and heart cut outs
and stuck ‘I Love My Parents’ on it. The Jr.KG
students made tulip cards. They were encouraged
to say the words ‘I love you’ while presenting
the flower to their parents. This day helped the
children realize the importance of parents in
their lives.

SENSE STATION
On 25 July our Nursery
students had ‘Sense Station’ Day. It was
effective in enhancing the concept of the
senses. Various materials were displayed in the
first booth for the children to touch and feel.
In the next booth they had to differentiate
between the sweet, sour and bitter tastes. The
enchanting sounds emanating from the different
musical instruments like the Jal Tarang and a
conch shell enamoured the kids. In the ‘smell
booth’ the children distinguished between and
matched similar smells. A puppet show followed
which was enjoyed by all.

Parent’s day
We celebrated ‘Parents Day’
where kids made tulip flowers with photographs
of their parents inside. We explained that the
concept was initiated by Bill Gates. They
discussed the importance of the role
Parents play in their lives sand how much they
are loved and appreciated by them. The children
were very excited while doing this special
activity and expressed their love for their
parents.

“Sr.KG” had a special day
where a pilot visit our classes. This day was
conducted as a follow up activity of the theme
‘Professions’.
Sumit Yadav was invited to meet the children and
talk about his profession. He was very
co-operative and answered all the questions
asked by the children who were very inquisitive.
Overall it was a very informative and
interactive session for kids

Guru Purnima
On 26th July 2011, nursery and
playschool children celebrated a special day
GURUPURNIMA for a very important person in one’s
life -a teacher .
The children learnt that this festival is
celebrated on a full moon day .The children were
also told that prayers are offered for our
teachers and books are also worshipped as they
give us knowledge .
The children sang “I love you “ song dedicating
it to their teachers. The special day helped
children understand the significance of this
festival.

Field trip to Mc Donald’s
On 27th July 2011, nursery
children were taken on their first field trip
for this academic year to Mc Donald’s as an
extension to the topic – our senses.
The children were briefed about the different
tastes and senses like sweet ,sour salty ,hot
and cold . To give children hands on experience
they were served french-fries and ice-cream. The
children were very happy and excited visiting
their special friend, Mr. Mac.

Sense station
To make the children
learn about the various senses: seeing ,hearing,
smelling, tasting and touching to provide as
many sensory experiences as possible, a special
day “SENSE STATIONS” was conducted for Nursery
children on 29th July 2011 .
Different rooms were set up pertaining to the
different senses and the related activities were
put up by the teachers .The children came along
with their parents used all their senses for a
hands on experience at the various sense
stations. A special shadow play puppet show was
also conducted.
The parents and the children took the
opportunity to actively participate in all the
activities.

“Guru Purnima”
The auspicious day of “Guru
Purnima” was celebrated with much fanfare. The
children
Were given a drawing of a tecaher and were asked
to colour it on their own.
They were also told the importance of ‘Guru’ or
‘Teacher’ in their lives.
This festival is celebrated in July on the full
moon
day to offer prayers to our gurus or teachers.

Dress up like Mummy and Daddy
On July 14 2011 Playschool
celebrated their special day” Dress up like
Mummy and Daddy”.
The children came to school dressed up like
their mummy and daddy .The different corners
were set up in the class, namely the kitchen
play, washing, ironing beds and office corner.
The children were encouraged to go to all the
corners and pretend to be mom and dad.
The tiny tots were thrilled to step into their
parent’s shoes .Over all the aim to provide
opportunity for dramatic play was achieved.

I LOVE YOU MOM DAY
On July 18th 2011 Playschool
children celebrated their special day “I LOVE
YOU MOM DAY”.
The handmade invitation cards were made by the
children and sent home to invite their mothers
to school and have fun with them.
The day began by singing “I love you" song for
their mothers followed by 3 activities for the
day.
Having fun with mama: Where tiny tots sang and
danced with their moms.
Passing the hoop: The children played passing
the hoopla with their mother as partners.
Making Photo frame: The children made fabulous
photo frames with the help of their mummy’s.
Monaco chat: The little chef made Monaco topping
for their moms.
The children also celebrated Parents day with
their mothers on this day.
Overall the objective of providing opportunities
for the children to spend quality time with
their mother was achieved.

My dad rocks
On 22nd July 2011 the
Playschool children celebrated a very special
day “My dad rocks “ day.
The handmade invitation cards were made by the
children and sent home to invite their fathers
to school and spend some memorable time with
them.
The class was set into 6 free play corners. The
fathers were encouraged to go in each corner
with their child and do the activities, followed
by parachute play and music and movement session
where the dads danced to the tunes with their
children.
Fathers were excited to be given an opportunity
to be with their children in school.

DADDY’S DAY
To make the father’s more
special, “Daddy’s day” was organized on 5th
July,2011, for the play group children where the
father could experience a day in the classroom
with his child.
The day started with an “I love you “song
followed with a balloon toss game .The children
enjoyed singing and dancing with their dads.
Then the grand finale was the “Tug of war” among
the fathers which was fun to watch.
It was an enjoyable day for them.

WASHING DAY
On 5th July 2011, Playschool
had their 1st Special day -“Washing Day”. We had
set up a corner with two tubs of water, kitchen
toys, sponge and squeaky rubber toys. The whole
purpose behind the activity was to teach the
children how washing and cleaning keeps us
healthy and tidy. They were taught about the
various interesting ways in which this job can
be done and how we can encourage others to do
this. They were highly observant and thoroughly
enjoyed this activity.
All dad’s enthusiastically participated and
cheered their little ones.

Tactile Sensory Zone
Jr.Kg had a special day on
“Tactile Sensory Zone on 5th July 2011”.
Children played games to understand and serve
our purpose of our sensory system on touch.
We played games where they various objects were
given to the children and they have to identify
them.
Children were explained about textures like
rough and smooth and different objects were
given to feel and identify them.
It was a wonderful experience for the children
and they enjoyed to their fullest
which was seen by their excitement towards the
special day Tactile Sensory Zone.

Visit to a Blind/ Visually Impaired School
On 6th July 2011, children of
the Sr. Kg went on a fieldtrip to a school for
the blind. This was a reinforcement of the theme
“Our Body”.
They were surprised to see visually impaired
children performing various activities such as
stitching and making paper bags, which require
good hand-eye coordination.
The blind children were also able to read and
write by using Braille letters, which is a
system of reading by touch.
It was an amazing and heart -warming moment to
see visually impaired children leading an
independent life ,with a smile and confidence on
their faces.

RAIN WALK
We all look forward for the
monsoon season. To enjoy and have fun in the
rain, “Rain Walk” was organized for the
playgroup children on July 7th, 2011.
Children wore their raincoats and set out for an
enjoyable walk in the rain along with their
teachers. The children were excited to walk on
the muddy puddles and feel the rain drops
falling on them. They sang songs related to rain
and the experience was thoroughly enjoyable.

Diverse learners
On July 2nd 2011, a workshop
on “Diverse learners” was conducted for
Pre-primary teachers by the coordinators.
The workshop began by discussing various
diversities among students like : diversity of
modalities, diversity of socio-economic status
and diversity of race and ethnicity. This was
made interesting for the teachers through role
play activity. Various strategies that can be
used to handle and teach students who are
diverse were also discussed.
Thus the teachers were made aware of the
importance of empowering students to succeed, by
providing them with a learning environment that
reflects their culture, embraces their diversity
and celebrates their differences.

Visit to a Hospital
The Jr.KG students were taken
on a fieldtrip to a hospital on 27 June. They
were taken to the diagnostic centre where they
were amazed to see the x-ray machine and the
sonography machine. They were then taken to the
pathology laboratory and shown a blood sample.
The fieldtrip was a good reinforcement of the
concepts learnt in the class. The students were
thoroughly overawed by what they saw but had a
great time.

TACTILE SENSORY ZONE
On 29 June our Jr. KG students
had ‘Tactile Sensory Zone’ Day. It was effective
in enhancing the concept of the senses. They
felt the textures of different materials like
sandpaper, velcro, coins and then tried to
identify them. Later each child was given a
material and it had to be matched with the same
material from a bag. The children had great fun
doing this activity. Then the teacher explained
the meanings of the terms smooth and rough and
the students had to sort the items provided into
these two groups, blindfolded. Learning can be
fun!

VISUALLY IMPAIRED BUT ABLE
The students of Sr. KG visited
the Smt. Kumumdben Dwarkadas Vora Industrial
Home for Blind Women on 29 June. The fieldtrip
was planned to reinforce the theme that vision
plays a vital role in all our lives and to
develop sensitivity in the students. They got an
opportunity to see that even though the people
were visually handicapped yet they could manage
their daily chores independently. Seeing them
weaving, making flowers, cloth dusters,
jewellery, and many more hand crafted items
literally amazed our kids. It was indeed a very
touching as well as a learning experience for
everyone.

Daddy’s Day
On 27 June our Nursery
students celebrated ‘Daddy’s Day’ and got an
opportunity to spend time with their fathers.
The session began with the students singing the
song’ I Love You’ and the fathers joining in.
The different activities planned for the fathers
like the Balloon Toss Game and Tug of War saw
the fathers participating enthusiastically.
Later both daddies and their wards danced to the
tunes of ‘Shake Your Sillies Out’ and ‘Jump
Forward and Jump Backwards’. A rare occasion
when our busy fathers took time out of work and
enjoyed themselves with their children.

VISIT TO THE PARK
On 30 June our Nursery
students were taken on a field trip to a park to
reinforce the theme ‘My Family, Me and My Home’.
The children played in the park on the slides,
seesaws, swings, and in the sandpit. They were
taken around the park and shown the different
types of plants and flowers. The students
understood how important plants are to Man and
that it is necessary to protect Nature. They
enjoyed the trip thoroughly and it brought them
close to Mother Nature.

SING ALONG MUMMY DAY
Since we all begin our lives
in the arms of our mother, the 1st special day
of the academic year was dedicated to them. We
began with a “Sing-Along-Mummy” day held on June
28th, 2011.
The mothers attended in large numbers and
participated enthusiastically. They sang various
musical rhymes with the children.
Mothers were excited to be given an opportunity
to be with their children in school. They were
happy to see their little ones settled in their
new environment and were glad that their tiny
tots are in secure hands.
At the end of the day the children held their
moms’ hand and went home gleefully.

AMAZING JOURNEY INSIDE THE BODY
As the children of Sr. K.G are
learning about “Our Body”, a special session
titled “Amazing Journey inside the body” was
held on 27th June 2011. It began with the
children talking about the various body parts.
Five corners were set up in the class - the
smell corner, taste corner, touch corner,
hearing corner and sight corner. Activities
related to the five sense organs were conducted.
This included identifying smell, touch, sight
and sound. It helped the children gain knowledge
of the various sense organs.
It was an enjoyable day for them.

from 3rd to 4th June 2011
COFFEE MEET PRE PRIMARY
The coffee meet for the pre
primary section was conducted on June 3rd and
June 4th 2011-2012 at 9:00am.
The parents came in different time slots
allotted to them. The parents were welcomed by
the staff of Vibgyor High.
The day started with a welcome note by our
principal Ms. Prathiba Prabhu and giving them a
clear view of our schools vision and mission and
providing them with an insight to the
organizations beliefs and policies. The journey
to the curriculum was taken over by the
respective grade level coordinator, wherein the
parents were briefly inducted about the
curriculum and methodology, a typical day, field
trips and special days, VIVA and the content of
parent manual. The query session was conducted
by the coordinator, wherein the parents came up
with different quires related to academics and
infrastructure.
This was a great way to help parents resolve
their queries and get a feel about schools
atmosphere and classrooms.
