MOVIE WATCH: BOB THE
BUILDER: SCOOP SAVES THE DAY
To provide children with an
opportunity to listen for the details that they
are learning in this theme (Transport), a VCD of
Bob the builder- “Scoop saves the day” was shown
to them.
In this story, a heavy storm causes a lot of
damage and Bob the builder sets off to clear all
the mess using his various transport vehicles.
Later the children were given an opportunity to
talk about the movie also the different
transport vehicles they saw in this movie.
Children had a lot of fun watching this movie.

Crazy creation
February 21, 2012 children of
Senior.K.G had a brainstorming activity called
‘Crazy creations’ . Children were asked to
imagine and draw, something that they would like
to invent. They used different colored papers,
yarn, stickers, glitter etc. to decorate their
invention. Children came up with lots of
astounding ideas and imaginations. Students
proudly showed their creations and shared the
ideas behind their crazy creations with their
classmates. Overall it was a fun art activity
for the children to do in class.

WASHING DAY
To reinforce the concept of
Dhobi about which the children have been
learning in the ongoing theme of Community
helpers, ‘Washing day’ was organized in the
playgroup class. To provide an opportunity for
dramatic play, three corners were set up in the
class namely washing corner, drying corner and
ironing corner. One of the teachers pretended to
be a dhobi and sang the song ‘dhobi aaya’.
Everyone were given dirty napkins to wash. The
children enjoyed dipping, scrubbing and washing
the napkins. They then hung them on a
clothesline to dry and in the end ironed them
with a toy iron. Our tiny tots enjoyed the
activity immensely.

VISIT TO THE FIRE STATION
The excitement in nursery
classes was infectious as everyone got ready to
visit a fire station. The aim of the trip was to
reinforce the concept of a fire station and
firemen. The children were very excited to see
the fire engines and meet the firemen. The
firemen showed everyone the different equipments
they use to put out a fire like hosepipe,
ladder, fire extinguishers etc and explained the
procedures employed . The children were
especially excited when the firemen gave a
demonstration of the different ways of putting
out the fire with the hose pipe. It was a very
informative and interesting trip for the
children.

VALENTINE’S DAY
To help children understand
the importance and significance of the festival
“Valentine’s day”, teachers told them a
wonderful story of St. Valentine. On 14th of
February, we send or receive cards or gifts to
our loved ones with hearts and a picture of
cupid on them to say how much they love each
other. Cupid is a mischievous child with wings
and carries a bow and an arrow.
To make this day special children brought bread
and jam. They cut them with heart shaped cookie
cutter and decorated them beautifully with
colorful gems, and ate to their hearts content.

VALENTINE’S DAY
Love was in the air when the
children of Nursery and Playschool celebrated
Valentine’ s day in their classes. Teachers told
the children that on this day people send cards
and gifts to their parents, siblings and friends
to say how much they love them. Children were
shown the picture of Cupid and told that it is a
mischievous fairy which stands for love.
Playschool children sang a special Valentine’s
day song with their teachers. The nursery
children were very excited to make a ‘I love
you’ card for their parents. They painted hearts
on the card to show their love and appreciation
for their parents.

VALENTINE’S DAY
Valentine's Day is a
celebration of love. The roots of Valentine's
Day go back to ancient times, it is celebrated
on February 14th.
The traditions of Valentine's Day are broad and
many. It is a time to exchange cards or small
gifts. It is a romantic event for grown ups and
a fun event for kids and family.
The festival was celebrated with a lot of
grandeur in Senior.K.G on Tuesday, February 14,
2012. Teachers told the story of Saint Valentine
and the invention of greeting cards to the
students. Students then made pretty pink heart
cards for their friends or family, which they
took home for their valentine’s.

SHOEMAKER AND THE ELVES
To introduce the shoemaker in
the theme ‘People at work’ and to enhance visual
and listening skills, children of nursery were
told the story of ‘The Shoemaker and the Elves’.
The teachers used hand and finger puppets to
make the story interesting for the children. The
children were also shown the story flash cards.
Everyone enjoyed the story session immensely.

TU B’SHVAT
To understand the importance
and significance of the festival TU B’ SHVAT, it
was celebrated in the Junior Kg classes. We
started our special day with a special friend
(tree puppet) puppet show. Tree puppet explained
to the children-“I have come all the way from
Israel. Today is my birthday and we celebrate it
as a festival called TU B’ SHVAT. It’s also
known as the new year of trees. On this day
people calculate the age of trees. They
celebrate by eating grapes, figs, pomegranate,
olives, and dates”.
After the show children did the activity of
sowing seeds and stuck a flower with leaves on
the pot and then they kept the pots
on the window slits to get enough sunlight.

Tu B’Shvat
Tu B’shvat is the day that
marks the beginning of a “New Year for Trees.”
This is the season in which the
earliest-blooming trees in the Land
of Israel emerge from their winter sleep and
begin a new fruit-bearing cycle.
Senior.K.G students celebrated this festival on
Wednesday, February 8, 2012 by listening to the
story of the festival through a puppet show.
Students also made Tu B’Shvat food mats by
stamping painted leaves and on their sheets.
This activity increased students awareness about
tress and their importance.

TU B’SHVAT
Tu B’Shvat which is a festival
of Israel was celebrated in nursery classes. The
teachers showed the children a tree puppet and
told them that on this day people of Israel
celebrate the birthday of trees. They also plant
a sapling and eats fruits like grapes, figs,

activity, everyone made a handprint tree. They
were given a cut out of a tree trunk. They
dipped their hands in green and yellow paint and
made handprints on the tree to make its
branches.

a festival of the people of Israel. In Israel
people celebrate the new year of plants and
trees. A tree puppet was shown to the children

very happy to colour.

COLOUR FUN DAY-PURPLE
Purple day was celebrated in
Nursery classes with enthusiasm and excitement.
The children and their teachers came dressed to
school in purple coloured clothes. The classes
and corridors were decorated with purple
streamers and cut outs of brinjals, flowers and
blueberries. Everyone were very happy to play
games like ‘noisy purple’ and ‘purple streamer
race’ with their friends. To reinforce the
colour purple, the children made a purple
collage with cuts outs of objects which they
coloured with purple crayon and stuck on a chart
paper. Fun ended in nursery classes with our
little ones dancing with purple streamers.

CHECK YOUR TEETH DAY
To reinforce people at work
‘check your teeth day’ was organised in the
nursery classes. A dentist came to the classes
and showed the children all the instruments she
uses. She checked everyone’s teeth for cavities.
The children were told to brush their teeth
twice a day and to eat lots of fruits and
vegetables for strong and healthy teeth. The
dentist also told the children not to eat too
much of junk food. The day ended with everyone
singing the poem ‘My toothbrush’ with their
friends and the teachers.

WHAT DO CHEFS/BAKERS DO?
To introduce ‘The Baker’ a
special day was organized in the nursery
classes. A teacher dressed as a baker came to
the class and demonstrated how a cake is baked.
She showed everyone the different instruments
used by the baker like measuring cup, baking
tray and the oven. She made the cake in front of
the children showing them the ingredients she
used like flour, sugar, eggs.
The batter was then put in the oven. Our little
ones relished the cake made by the baker
immensely. As a follow up activity, everyone
made a Baker’s hat with white chart paper cut
outs. The children were very proud and happy to
wear their bakers hat.

CARPENTER VISIT
To introduce the children to
the carpenter and the work he does, a carpenter
visit was organized in the nursery classes in
the Theme ‘People at work’. The carpenter showed
the children the tools that he uses like the
saw, hammer, planer, sand paper etc.
He told them about the different things that he
makes with his tools. Soon our little carpenters
got busy in making tables and chairs for their
friends with toy hammers, nuts and bolts. Then
it was time for a group activity in which the
teacher gave them a picture of a big tree.
Everyone stuck sawdust on the trunk of the tree
and dipped leaves in green paint and made leaf
prints on the tree.

ANTS GO MARCHING
To provide opportunity for
developing self confidence in the children, a
special day ‘Ants go marching’ was organized in
the playgroup class. The children came dressed
as ants and were very happy to see one of their
teachers dressed as an ant too.
Every one recited the poem ‘The ants go marching
by’ and walked on their fours like an ant. Next
our little ones enjoyed listening to the song ‘
Ants on Parade’ and marched together one behind
the other like ants. It was a fun filled day in
the playgroup which was enjoyed by both the
children and the teachers.

NURSE/DOCTOR DRESS UP DAY
To reinforce the concept of
community helpers which is being taught in the
ongoing theme of ‘People at work’ the children
of nursery came dressed to school as nurses and
doctors. A clinic was set up in one of the
corners in the class with all the doctors’
tools. The children dressed as doctors pretended
to check their patients using the stethoscope
and thermometer. The children dressed as nurses
assisted the doctors in treating the patients
and changing their bandages. The day ended with
a poem ‘I’m a happy doctor’ which everyone sang
with their friends. It was a fun day in nursery
classes thoroughly enjoyed by our little ones.

Nursery and playschool
children came dressed in the colours of the
Indian flag to celebrate Republic Day. The
children were told that Republic day is
celebrated because the Constitution of our
country was framed on that day. Nursery children
made tricolour fans by folding cut outs of
green, white and orange paper and sticking them
together. Playschool children were very excited
to make a tricolour mural. They were given a cut
out of white chart paper which they painted with
orange and green paint and stuck pictures of
national animal, bird, flower on it. The
celebration ended with our little ones singing
the national anthem and dancing to the song
‘nanha munna rahi hoon’.

FIELD TRIP TO A FLORIST
The theme for the month being
plant life, what would be more appropriate than
a visit to a florist. Children were enthusiastic
and over whelmed looking at the different
varieties of flowers.
They listened with immense interest as the
florist showed them the different varieties of
flowers in his shop.
On the journey back to school, teachers took
them through the topic ‘plants’ once again and
all in unison agreed the world would indeed be
so dull without them. Plants not only beautify
our surroundings- they even touch each one of
us.

Fantastic Flowers
The very name “flowers” brings
a sweet fragrance to our minds…. On this special
day of fantastic flowers, children beautifully
dramatized how a seed turns into a plant bearing
flowers with yanni music playing in the
background.
Later they made different colored flowers. They
covered the flowers with colorful finger prints
and the leaves with green fingerprints and
attached it to the ice cream sticks. Once the
flowers were ready, they took turns and arranged
their flowers in the vase.

Republic Day
26th January is not just
another date. It is one of the most important
days in Indian history. While India gained
independence on August 15, 1947, it was not
until January 26, 1950 that the constitution of
India came into effect and India became a truly
sovereign state, a totally republican nation.
So, the 26th of January was decreed a "National
Holiday" and has been recognized and celebrated
as the Republic Day of India, The Senior.K.G
students celebrated this day with a lot of pomp
and show on Wednesday, January 25, 2012. Classes
were dazzling with the shades of saffron, white
and green, as students had dressed up in the
flag colours. Children made tricolour badges
which they proudly wore before leaving for home.
This activity helped in making the children
aware of this special day, and sow the seed of
patriotism in their hearts.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION
Republic day was celebrated in
Junior Kg in order to make the children
understand the importance and significance of
this day. Republic day is celebrated in a grand
way by hoisting our National flag. It has three
colors namely orange which stands for sacrifice,
white which stands for peace and green for
growth and progress. The wheel has 24 spokes
depicting 24 hours of the day.
To make this day memorable and to inculcate the
spirit of being Indian, Junior KG children did
an art activity and made a pendant. Children
were proud to wear the medal around their neck
and were filled with pride of being Indians.

CHINESE NEW YEAR
To help the children
understand the significance of the festival
“Chinese new year “it was celebrated in nursery
and playschool classes. The teachers told the
children that on the eve of Chinese new year,
people carry lanterns into the streets to take
part in a parade. A giant golden dragon made of
silk and velvet twists and turns and weaves its
way through the crowds. People wear tiger and
dragon face masks and the sky is filled with
firecrackers and light. On this day, Chinese
people eat a vegetarian dish called “jai”. As a
follow up activity, Nursery children made a
Chinese Tiger finger puppet and the playschool
children did a craft activity of making Chinese
new year fireworks with glitter.

CHINESE NEW YEAR
Chinese New Year was
celebrated in Junior Kg in order to make the
children understand the importance and
significance of the festival. On this day
Chinese people carry lanterns into the street to
take part in a parade. People wear animal masks
and hundreds of lanterns and flags decorate the
streets. A giant golden dragon made of silk and
velvet weaves its way through the crowd. At
midnight people open every door and window of
their houses to allow the old year to go out.
Children celebrated this festival by making the
dancing dragon toy. Yellow construction paper
was used to make the dragon’s face and tail
which was then stuck on the red construction
paper which was fan folded. Later straws were
stuck on the edges of the face and tail. Black
bindis were placed on the face as eyes.

CHINESE NEW YEAR
The Chinese New Year is
celebrated for about fifteen days. It is
starting from January 23, this year. In the days
that follow festive dance and parades are held
featuring colorful dragons or lions, ceremonies
are held to pay homage to deities and ancestors,
children receive money in red envelopes, gifts
are exchanged, extended family members visit
each other, and there’s more traditional
feasting. This is one time in the year when the
whole nation feels united as they can imagine
each other's enjoyment.
Senior.K.G students celebrated this day on
Monday, January 23, 2012, by making the Chinese
lion puppets in their classes. The importance of
this day was explained to them by the teachers.
This activity helped the students to understand
about Chinese traditions and their culture.

BEAUTIFUL BIRDS
We started off our special day
by screening the VCD showing the different kinds
of birds. Children enthusiastically recognized
the birds of prey, water birds, perching birds,
flightless birds and the national birds of
different countries along with their
characteristics.
Later we demonstrated step by step the life
cycle of a bird as they did the activity “My
mini book of a chick hatches”. Children used
their own creativity by coloring the cover page
and the entire book and sequenced it in order.
They were very proud to make the beautiful chick
book and bird nest with a paper plate.

Recycling Day
Recycling or making new things
from old materials saves money, energy and
Earth’s natural resources, thereby helping the
evironment. Recycling also saves space in
landfills. The energy saved by recycling also
results in less pollution. On Wednesday, January
18,2012, Senior.K.G students learnt to recycle
old newspapers. They made paper bags using
simple materials available at home like string,
glue, paint and newspaper. This activity helped
the children to understand the fact that, when
you make new products from old materials,
natural resources are saved otherwise the old
material would have been thrown away.

KITE FLYING DAY
Makar Sankranti is the first
festival celebrated in India during the year. It
is celebrated on 14th of January. Makar
Sankranti is also known as “Festival of Kites”.
The weather is windy at this time of the year
and flying kite is so much fun.
On this special day, children did the activity
of kite making. They made a kite for themselves.
They coloured the kites using bright crayons and
stuck colourful crepe papers for its tail.
Children showed their creativity by making
beautiful patterns on it. They carried their
kites home with a beautiful smile on their
faces.

Makar Sankrati
Makar Sankranti is celebrated
in different ways all over India. In northern
India it is called Lohri , where lighting a
bonfire is an integral part of the festivities.
In Karnataka kite flying occupies an important
place in the celebration of Makar sankrati.
Senior.K.G students celebrated this festival on
Friday, January 13, 2012, by flying kites in the
school. Children were excited and cheered with
joy as kites soared up in the sky. Children got
an opportunity to get the feeling of flying
kites as they held the thread themselves.
It was a feast to watch the colourful kites fly
in the cool winter breeze against the blue
backdrop of the sky.

Clean city Green city
Thursday, January 12, 2012 Sr,K.G. students took
an oath to keep their city clean. They learnt to
sort
garbage into biodegradable waste and
non-biodegradable waste. They also learnt how to
reuse and recycle products. The children
segregated garbage into wet and dry garbage,
noted what can go into the compost bin and what
cannot. Our little earth pals
promised to keep the environment clean and our
city green by planting trees. “Clean city Green
city” activity is a message to
all the citizens of our country, to save our
planet and its natural resources.

Save Tigers
Tigers are on the threshold of
extinction. According to WWF, Tigers are amongst
the ten most endangered species in the world.
Over the last century more than 95 per cent of
the Tiger population has been wiped out & three
sub-species are already extinct.
Less than 3500 tigers remain in the wild today
with around 50 per cent in India and their
numbers are declining fast. On Monday, January
9, 2012, Senior.K.G students watched a movie of
two brothers – two tiger cubs. The movie watch
was followed by an art activity where children
made tiger door signs. This special day has
helped in creating awareness in students, about
the plight of tigers in the world today.

HO HO HO!
Children of Senior.K.G got a
visit from Santa on Friday 23rd December, 2011.
The spirit of Christmas was evident from the
splashes of red, green and white seen all over
the school campus. Children celebrated Christmas
by making crepe paper wreaths and Christmas
cards. They also played games like “pin the nose
on snowman”. Children were delighted to watch
the movie “Jingle all the way”, where they
learned that Christmas is not just about gifts
but about celebrating what we have. The day
aptly ended by meeting Santa and receiving goody
bags.

CHRISTMAS FIEST
Hark! The herald angels sing
“Glory to the new born king”. It’s the Christmas
season and a time for sharing celebration and
fun.
Children dressed up brightly in shades of red,
green, white and silver. The classrooms were
decorated with wreath, bells, streamers to
brighten up the Christmas feeling.
Children watched the movie “Jingle all the way”
and enjoyed how Howard Fangston turns into a
turbo man and how he makes his family happy.
Children just freaked out when Santa Claus
danced to the tune of Jingle bells….They
carefully watched his goody bag and grabbed the
chocolates.
Children made their own Christmas tree with lot
of enthusiasm. They made a snowman by sticking
cotton on the snowman . They went home holding
their goody bags with the excitement of opening
them at home.

Christmas Feast
The christmas spirit was
evident when our little ones came dressed to
school in the christmas colours. There was red,
green and white all around. The classes and
corridors were decorated with red and green
balloons and streamers. The children enjoyed
making santa goody bags and greeting cards. They
had a wonderful time playing four corners game
with their friends. Everyone then watched a
movie - ‘Bob the builder- Christmas to
remember’. The excitement was at its peak in the
classes when the children got a visit from Santa
Claus who danced with them and gave each one of
them a goody bag.

Hanukah
Sr.K.G. celebrated “Hanukah”
the Jewish festival of lights on Tuesday, 21st
Dec, 2011. Teachers narrated the story of
Hanukah and explained its importance to the
children. Teachers also told them that Jewish
people celebrate Hanukah by lighting the sacred
lamp “Menorah” for eight nights and prepare
wonderful food like potato latkes and doughnuts.
The children then made paper plate menorah, as a
follow up art activity. This special day helped
the children to understand the Jewish festival.

COLOUR FUN DAY-ORANGE
Orange day was celebrated in
Nursery classes to reinforce the colour ‘Orange’
in the Theme ‘Water World’. The nursery corridor
and classes were decorated with orange streamers
and balloons. Our little ones and their teachers
came dressed in orange colour clothes. Three
corners were made in the classes with orange
colour actvities planned in each corner. In
corner one, the children sorted orange beads. In
corner two, they made a collage by painting a
chart with orange colour and sticking orange
pictures on it. Third corner had the children
playing ‘Noisy orange’ game where they played
different instruments only on being shown an
orange coloured object. Every one had a
wonderful time dancing to music with orange
streamers.

HANUKKAH
Hanukkah which is a festival
of the Jews was celebrated in Nursery,
playschool and Jr.Kg classes on 22nd December.
The children were told about the significance of
this festival which was the victory of the
people of Israel over some cruel people who
destroyed their temples. The Jews cook delicious
food and decorate their houses with a six
pointer star called as ‘Star of David’. Children
play with a dreidel which is a top with four
square sides that can be spun. Playschool
children enjoyed singing a song to mark this
festival. The celebration in the nursery classes
and Jr.Kg was ended with a follow up activity of
making a dreidal photo frame and ‘Star of David’
respectively which the children were very happy
to take home.

THANKSGIVING DAY
Thanksgiving Day was
celebrated in order to help children understand
the importance of this festival. The
significance of this day was explained to the
children by the teachers. Thanksgiving is a time
for tradition and sharing. All the family
members get together to celebrate this festival.
It is celebrated all over the world and
especially in USA.Families celebrate by watching
football and eat a big feast with turkey, sweet
potatoes, cranberry sauce and apple pie. It is
also about friendship. People eat, sing and
dance together. They also thank God for his
blessings.
Children made a turkey hat using different
colours of construction paper and wore it while
going home.

Fantastic Marine Facts
The children of Senior.K.G
have entered the mesmerizing world of marine
life this month. Children are learning about the
fascinating creatures of the deep.
On Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011, they were
asked to bring fantastic facts about the marine
world to school. The children were encouraged to
come up and talk about the under water creature
they had chosen. The interactive session helped
children to gain confidence and enhanced their
knowledge of the enchanting marine world.

Ocean wall
Children took a dive into the deep blue ocean on Thursday, November 17, 2011. They painted a colorful and bright ocean wall for their class. Children were given shades of blue and green paints and sponges to make the background. Each child explored his/her imagination in painting sea creatures of the deep. The entire class assembled the project together into a fantastic masterpiece, to be put up on the wall of the class.

Children’s day
Children’s day was a much
awaited day for our little stars and it was
celebrated on Friday, November 11, 2011. The
teachers of Vibgyor Kids staged a show for their
kids. The story centered around Minku, the
monkey and his passion for chocolates. Bo, the
school mascot then teaches Minku to always share
his chocolates with others and to make friends
too. Children enjoyed watching Minku’s antics
and dancing with him. Children had real fun
making chocolate balls by mixing coca powder,
condensed milk and biscuits. They then rolled
the dough into balls and savored them. It was a
whole new experience for them. As a memento they
took home monkey masks..

Field trip to a zoo
Based on the Theme Animal
world , kids were taken to the Bannerghata
national park on 10th November 2011. Children
were very excited and eager to see different
animals and birds. Children were able to see
different group of animals such as amphibians
,reptiles, birds and mammals. Children saw
animals like zebra, spotted deer, python,
hornbill, pelican, emu, elephants, monkey, etc.
Children really enjoyed the trip a lot. It was a
fun filled day.

KARADI TALES
Most of us have heard
different versions of Karadi tales. Panchatantra
Tales on Aesop’s fables are some of them.
Karadi tales –The name itself captured a smile
on the children’s faces. We started our puppet
show with Karadi the bear telling our young
listeners the story of Buddharaj the foolish
lion and how his false vanity resulted with his
death. The story along with the puppet show
brought an exact picture into their mind..

CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION
Children’s day was celebrated
today in Junior Kg classes. Children came
dressed in party wear. To begin with, the
importance of children’s day celebration was
explained to them.
Puppet show with the script “The monkey who
loved chocolate” was conducted by the teachers.
Children danced during the music and movement
session. For snacks, children were provided with
muffins and sandwiches.
The most awaited activity of making chocolate
balls was thoroughly enjoyed and relished by the
children as they themselves made it. Children
were presented with a monkey mask on this
special day.

CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION
It was wonderful to see the
excited faces of our little ones when they saw
their school and classes decorated with
balloons, streamers, candies, doughnuts and
muffins to celebrate Children’s day. The
excitement increased when the children were
taken to see a puppet show ‘The monkey who loved
Chocolates’ presented by their teachers.
Laughter and giggles were all around at the
antics of Minku the monkey. Happy little
children went back to their classes to enjoy
some cookies and pizzas. Everyone then got busy
in making choco biscuit treats and relished
eating them. The day ended with everyone getting
a monkey mask to take home which they were very
happy to wear.

JUNGLE PARTY
Jungle party was celebrated in
the playgroup to reinforce the names of wild
animals in the theme ‘Pat,farm and wild animals.
Children came dressed as Zebra, Tiger ,Lion and
Elephant much to the excitement of their
friends. The class was decorated like a jungle
with plants,leaves and cut outs of various
jungle animals. Every one had a great time
dancing to the song ‘walking through the jungle’
and listening to the sounds of different
animals.

CELEBRATION OF HALLOWEEN
Halloween was celebrated by
Junior Kg classes as a fun day. The importance
of this festival was told to the children. On
this day grownups and children dress up as
ghosts and witches, and carve faces on pumpkins.
At parties there are noisy games like apple
bobbing. The most important celebration during
Halloween is Trick-or-Treat. Children in
America, Canada and Australia dress in scary
costumes and knock on people’s doors asking
“Trick or Treat”. People treat them by giving
them sweets or other presents so that they won’t
trick them.

COLOUR BOOTH DAY
It was a special day for our
little ones when their mothers came to the class
for ‘Colour Booth Day’. Everyone was excited to
participate in all the fun activities with their
mothers in 3 different corners. In the red
corner, the children made lady bird puppets by
coluring the lady bird and sorted red colour
inter star links. In the blue corner, they
threaded blue beads and enjoyed building towers
with blue blocks. The children and their mothers
enjoyed dancing on the song ‘streamer fun’ with
yellow streamers. The fun ended with everyone
getting a yellow sun tattoo on their hands. It
was a fun and enjoyable experience for mama and
her precious one.

HALLOWEEN DAY
Halloween was celebrated in
Nursery and Playgroup classes with lots of
interesting activities. Nursery children enjoyed
making Peek a boo Jack- o -lantern face masks.
They painted a paper plate and stuck green
leaves on it. They were given black cut outs of
a face which they were very happy to stick on
the paper plate. Play group children made jack-
o- lantern bottle craft by sticking face cut
outs on the bottle. Our children were extremely
happy to take their craft work home to show to
their parents.

ZELDA THE ZEBRA
In the Theme ‘Pet, farm and
wild animals, Zelda the Zebra came to the
playgroup class to tell the children a story. It
was a wonderful experience for our little ones
as they saw a puppet show presented by the
teachers about a Zebra who lost its stripes.
Children enjoyed listening to rhymes, songs and
danced with their friends.

TRADITIONAL DAY
Traditional day was celebrated
amongst the children with lots of enthusiasm.
They turned up in their Indian best; some in
colourful salwar suits, others in sequined
ghagras and boys in gorgeous sherwanis. The
significance of the Diwali festival was
explained by the teachers. The day was marked by
making colourful diwali cards and exquisite
torans which children proudly carried back home
to adorn their front doors and balconies. All
went home with a sweet taste in their mouth busy
munching the mouth watering ladoos.

MONKEY DAY
It was a fun day for the
children in playgroup when monkey day was
celebrated in their classes in the theme of
‘Pet,farm and wild animals’. Two children came
dressed as monkeys much to the delight of all
the other children. The classroom was filled
with laughter and music as every one danced to
‘5 little monkeys’. Everyone enjoyed making
their monkey paper bag puppets during activity
time. They painted the cut outs of the monkey’s
body with brown paint and then stuck them on a
paper bag. It was a fun day for our children
with every one monkeying around.

Dussehra
On Friday 23rd Sep, 2011, The
children of Senior.K.G had a great time
celebrating Dussehra in school. It was
celebrated to make the children understand the
importance of Dussehra festival. The teacher
narrated the story of the ten headed “Ravana.”
the king of Lanka and how Lord Rama fought for
nine days and killed Ravana on the tenth day.
The children then had to draw their
interpretation of the festival and were allowed
to use their imagination and creativity.

SEASON BOOTHS
To reinforce the concept of
seasons, the teachers put in their best by
setting up classrooms according to the four
different seasons, summer, monsoon, winter and
autumn.
The summer booth portrayed the hot sun, beaches,
summer fruits, clothes and the blooming hills.
The monsoon booth portrayed the creation of a
new life after a parched summer. Dark grey
clouds, raindrops, rainbow, raincoats,
umbrellas, mushrooms, frogs and dancing peacocks
filled up this room. The winter booth was filled
with snow. This room portrayed the hill stations
of India, winter clothes, winter sports and the
white Christmas. The autumn booth was filled
with dried leaves.
Children were occupied in making sunflowers,
mushroom and muddy Prints. They were also shown
how to make lemonade and hot soup.

DINGLE DANGLE SCARECROW
It was a special day for our
Nursery children when Dingle Dangle Scare crow
came to visit them in their classes. One of the
teachers came dressed as a scarecrow to
introduce the concept of farm animals in the
theme of ‘Pet, farm and wild animals’. Every one
was very happy to dance with the scarecrow on
the song ‘Dingle Dangle Scarecrow’. The fun
continued in the activity period where the
children decorated their own scarecrow puppets.
They stuck hay on the arms and feet and marble
paper on the shirt of the stick puppet. The
children were very happy to take their scarecrow
puppet home.

GANESH CHATURTHI
Ganesh Chaturthi was
celebrated in nursery and play school classes on
30th August. Lord Ganesha’s idol was placed in
one of the classes with arti puja plate,incense
sticks, fruits and flowers. The children were
told that people install images of Lord Ganpati
in their houses and the celebration goes on for
7-10 days. Special food and Prasad are made on
the first day of the Puja and on the last day of
the festival, the idol of Ganesha is immersed in
the water. Every one sang ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’
and the children were given laddoos as part of
the celebration. The celebration continued in
the classes where nursery children did leaf
painting on a picture of Lord Ganesha and play
school children made a paper Toran by sticking
cut outs of flowers and leaves on a satin
ribbon.

GANESH CHATURTHI
We celebrated “Ganesh
Chaturthi” on Tuesday,30th August,2011, with our
children to make them understand the importance
of the festival.
The classes were decorated with diyas and
hibiscus flowers. Incense sticks were lighted
and Idol of Lord Ganesha was placed. A puppet
show was arranged to explain about the story of
Ganesha. Children then performed a pooja by
singing a song for Lord Ganesha.
The celebration ended with a clay modeling
activity wherein children made models of Ganesha,
showcasing their creativity..

RAMZAN EID
Every year during the month of
Ramadan, all Muslims fast daily, from dawn until
dusk. At the end of Ramadan, Muslims celebrate
Eid Al-Fitr. The entire community comes together
for special prayers and to congratulate each
other.
Sr.K.G. children celebrated Eid on Monday, 30th
August, 2011. They were told about the
importance of this day, followed by an art
activity. Children made Eid cards and wished
‘Eid Mubarak’ to each other.

RAMZAN EID
Eid was celebrated in Junior
KG classes on 29th August. Eid means celebration
and it is a festival celebrated by Muslims.
During Ramzan Muslims fast. They break their
fast with dates and salt. After 30 days of fast,
Muslims celebrate the end of fasting and call
this day Ramzan Eid.
Children were excited about the magic Painting
activity. They made a moon and stars with
candles and later dabbed it with black paint
with a sponge… and what did they see???? MAGIC …
shining moon and stars. They wished everybody
Eid Mubarak and proudly took the cards home to
give it to their loved ones and relished sevai
kheer.

EID CELEBRATION
Eid was celebrated in nursery
and play school classes with love and
enthusiasm. The teachers told the children about
this festival which is celebrated by the
Muslims. They were told that during the month of
Ramzan, Muslims do not eat or drink from sunrise
to sunset. After 30 days of fasting, they
celebrate the end of fasting on Eid which means
celebration. Children were given dates as Iddy
and Kheer as part of the celebrations. Everyone
hugged each other and wished each other ‘Eid
Mubarak’. The celebration ended with a song ‘I
am fasting’ which everyone sang with their
friends and teachers.

VEGGIE DAY-PLAY SCHOOL
‘Mom and me veggie day’ was
celebrated in play group as part of the theme
‘Fruits and Vegetables’. The mothers came to the
school to participate in the activities with
their little ones. 3 corners were made in the
class with different activities planned in each
corner. The 1st corner had mom and her child
painting on vegetable outlines on paper bags
which they later took home .A scrumptious salad
was made in the 2nd corner with different
vegetables. In the 3rd corner, the children were
given different vegetables in a large tray and
they sorted the vegetables in separate bowls.
Mom and her baby enjoyed their time together in
school immensely.

VISIT TO THE SUPERMARKET
It was yet another fun trip
when the children of nursery were taken to a
supermarket. The objective was to show them
different fruits and vegetables about which they
had been learning in the ongoing concept of
‘Fruits and Vegetables’. Children were very
excited to board the buses with their friends
and sang songs all the way to the supermarket.
Fresh and colourful fruits and vegetables were
all around which every one enjoyed seeing. The
market was filled with the voices of our little
ones as they excitedly named all the fruits and
vegetables. Every one came back to the classes
after an educational and fun day at the
supermarket.

GRANDPARENT’S DAY
‘Grandparents are a family’s
greatest treasure,they are the footsteps to the
future generations’
Grandparents party was organized to show love
and appreciation for them. The corridoor and the
classes were decorated keeping in mind the
‘Hawaiian’ theme. It was a wonderful sight as
our little ones walked in, holding their beloved
grandparents hands and led them to their
classrooms. A video of the children singing a
special song for their grandparents was shown to
them. The children were excited to perform a
dance especially for their grandparents. Soon
everyone got busy in an activity and enjoyed
playing a game which had all the grandparents
and their grandchildren participating. There was
laughter, smiles and joy all around. The party
ended with refreshments which were relished by
everyone.

GRAND PARENT’S DAY
To honor the grand parents, a
special day was organized. It was an opportunity
for the children to spend some time with their
grandparents in the school. The theme chosen for
the day was HAWAIIAN. The children, grandparents
and teachers came dressed for the occasion. The
whole school was decked up with the Hawaiian
theme.
The grandparents saw videos about the
grandchildren telling a poem about them. A group
dance by the children was presented to the
audience. The grandparents made a flower crown
as part of an activity. This was then gifted to
the grandchildren. The second activity was a
game of musical ping pong balls. As a conclusion
to the grand day, mementos made by the children
were given to their grandparents.

Grandparents day
Senior .K.G. children
celebrated Grandparents day on Wednesday,24th
August, 2011. It brought out the unique
relationship shared between the grandparents and
grandchildren. The entire preprimary section
looked like a Hawaiian paradise. It was
wonderful sight to see all the teachers and so
many grandparents dressed in the Hawaiian
attire. They assembled in their respective
classes and the party unfolded with a welcome
speech. The grandparents then made floral hat
souvenirs for their grandchildren as a token of
their love. They also played games with great
enthusiasm. Though the grandparents and the
grandchildren are more than a generation apart,
they still enjoyed and cherished each other’s
company.

Parent Teacher Meet
The Parent Teacher Meet for
the first term was organized on Saturday, August
27, 2011, for Pre primary.
On this day parents were invited to come and
meet the teachers of their child’s class.
Teachers discussed the progress of the child and
handed over the child’s art work to the parents.
Parents were thrilled to see the classroom and
class work books of the children. They got a
feel of their child’s life at school. Parents
also filled up feedback forms provided and
dropped them in the drop box.

INDIA DAY - NURSERY &
PLAYSCHOOL
India day was celebrated with
full vigour and enthusiasm in nursery and
playschool classes. The patriotic spirit was
evident when the children came dressed to school
in the colours of the Indian flag. The teachers
showed them the Indian flag and told them about
the significance and meaning of independence
day. Nursery children were also told about
India’s national flower and national bird.
Playschool children were very happy to make
tricolour headbands while Nursery children
enjoyed making Indian flag badges. The day ended
with everyone paying their respect to our great
nation by singing the national anthem. HAPPY
INDEPENDENCE DAY!.

Blue Colour day was celebrated
with lots of excitement in nursery classes. The
children and their teachers came dressed in blue
colour clothes. All the classes were decorated
with blue streamers and blue toys. Three corners
were made in the classes and the children
participated in different blue colour
activities. They were excited to make their hand
prints on paper with blue starch. Everyone
played with blue blocks and sorted blue beads.
The day ended with our little ones dancing to
the song ‘streamer fun’ with blue streamers.

PARSI NEW YEAR
Parsi new year also known as
‘Pateti’ was celebrated in playschool on 18th
August. The children were told that the Parsi
community celebrates this festival by going to
the fire temple. They offer sandalwood which
burns continuously in the fire temple. They make
special patterns with tin moulds and chalk
powder to decorate the steps of their houses.
Special food and sweets are also made on this
day. Everyone was then given a rangoli pattern
and coloured wet chalks. The children were very
happy to colour their rangoli and were excited
to take their art work home.

PARSI NEW YEAR
Children of nursery celebrated
Parsi new year also known as ‘Pateti’ in their
classes on 19th August. The teachers talked to
them about the significance of this festival
which is celebrated by the Parsi community. The
children were also told that Parsi people go to
the fire temple and offer sandalwood on this
day.They decorate their houses with flower
garlands and make special patterns with tin
moulds and chalk powder. The teachers then burnt
sandalwood and made everyone smell the sweet
smell. Our little ones enjoyed the activity of
colouring rangoli pattern with coloured chalks
and were happy to take it home.

SENSE STATION DAY
Children take in new
information through their senses. They develop
paths of their brain that deal with vision,smell
and hearing.They have absorbent minds and absorb
all the experiences. To provide our little ones
with as many sensory experiences as possible,
‘SENSE STATIONS’ were organized. The children
came to school with their parents and
participated in many activities related to each
sense-Hearing, Touch, Sight, Taste, and Smell.
There were different corners where the children
smelled different fragrances, touched different
textures, tasted different kinds of food (salty,
sweet, and sour) and heard many kinds of sounds.
It was wonderful to see our little ones enjoy
all the activities. The parents were very happy
as they got an opportunity to experience a day
in their child’s life at school.

Independence day
Independence day is celebrated
to commemorate India’s birth as a sovereign
nation. Thursday,
August 11, 2011, was a day of great celebration
for the Sr.K.G. kids. Flashes of saffron, white
and green were seen all over the campus as the
kids were dressed up in t-shirts depicting the
tricolour. The significance of our country’s
dearly bought freedom was explained to the kids.
The art activity wherein children drew the
national flag and national symbols kindled
patriotism within them. A feeling of pride
engulfed every kid when the National Anthem was
played. This celebration succeeded in infusing
the spirit of patriotism and an overwhelming
sense of togetherness in the minds of the
children.

On India Day, 65th
Independence Day was celebrated in Junior KG
grade with lot of excitement. Children came
dressed in orange, white or green. The day
started with the National Anthem. Children were
told about the significance of this day . A wall
hanging with the outline of India’s map was made
by the children with their hand prints in orange
, white and green paints. They went back home
filled with pride to be an Indian..

Parsi New Year
Parsi New Year also called as
Pateti is celebrated by the Parsi community. On
this sacred day men and women wear a special
traditional dress and go to the fire temple to
offer sandalwood. Our Sr.k.G children celebrated
the Parsi New Year on Friday, August 19 , 2011,
in their classes by making a ‘rangoli’ .
Teachers spoke about the Parsi community, their
food, traditional dress and how they celebrate
this day.

Junior KG celebrated Parsi New
Year on this day. Children were told as to how
the Parsi community celebrate the day. They go
to the fire temple and offer sandal wood. The
men wear a special traditional dress called a
Dagli with a Parsi prayer cap. Children did one
activity in which they joined the dots using a
wet chalk on a sheet of black chart paper using
different combinations to get their own rangoli
designs. Children enjoyed this session a lot and
went home along with their art activity.

Army officer visits
On Thursday, 21st July 2011,
retired Col Rakesh Dabay Veer Chakra, visited
the children of Senior K.G. to talk to the
children about his profession in the Army.
Children learnt about the various places he was
posted at and how he faced the climatic
conditions of those places. He talked about
military training and vehicles used by them. The
day aptly ended by children and the teachers
saluting the Indian Flag.

PARENT’S DAY
The importance and
significance of parent’s day was explained to
the children . As there is no such day to
celebrate and express love for both the parents
on the same day, Bill Clinton, who was once the
president of United States of America, decided
to have a day to celebrate happiness, love and
joy with both the parents together. We celebrate
parent’s day to thank our parents for all the
love they shower on us. On this special day, we
should thank our parents for being there and
taking care of us. Children made a tulip card
for their parents. They pasted the photographs
of their parents and wrote “I love you” inside
the card. Overall it was an entertaining day and
the children enjoyed themselves tremendously and
went home very excited with their cards which
they presented to their parents.

MY DAD ROCKS
‘My Dad Rocks’ was the mantra
when fathers of our playschool children came to
their class to spend some quality time with
their little ones. Lots of fun activities were
in store for them. First dad and his baby danced
to some music. Then it was time for the little
ones to show their beading skills. They made
necklaces with beads for their fathers which the
proud Dads happily wore. Imagination and
creativity were on display when Dad and baby
played with transport toys and wooden blocks. It
was wonderful to see a very happy father and his
baby walk hand in hand as they went home after a
fun filled day in school.

GURU PURNIMA
Firstly, the children were
told about the meaning of this festival and how
it is important. The word Guru means a person
who teaches us and provides us with knowledge
like our teachers, parents and grandparents.
Purnima means full moon. So we offer prayers to
our gurus on this day of July, when we can see
the complete moon, in the honor of a sage (wise
person) called Vyas. We also conduct puja of
books as it gives us knowledge. Children
celebrated Guru Purnima by colouring a worksheet
of a teacher.

the festival ‘Gurupurnima’ they were told that

knowledge. It falls on the day of the full moon
which means on this day we can see the complete

celebrated Guru poornima on July 15, 2011, The
aim of this celebration was to help the children
to understand the meaning of a ‘Guru’ - the
person who teaches us and provides us with
knowledge. The children learnt about the sage
Vyas, who wrote the 4 vedas on a full moon day.

It was wonderful to see the
children of Nursery, their teachers and the co-ordinator
dressed in red colour clothes to celebrate
‘colour fun Day’. The classes and the corridors
were decorated with red streamers and red toys.
Many activities were planned for the children
keeping in mind the colour ‘Red'. Everyone
enjoyed making towers with red blocks and
sorting red beads. Further, a strawberry cut out
was given to the children. They painted the cut
out with red paint and made black dots on it.
Last but not the least ,the children were given
red streamers and all of them had a great time
dancing to ‘Streamer fun’ with their teachers
and friends.

6th July 2011
Children were very excited and
were looking forward to see what really happens
in an eye hospital. They got to see a consulting
room and even checked out few lenses.
Ophthalmologist told them about the parts of the
eyes and how to take care of them. She told them
that they should watch television from a
distance of minimum four metres. The doctor also
talked about the healthy food that they should
eat such as carrots, spinach and other green
leafy vegetables, in order to keep their eyes
fit. Children had an informative experience at
the Devi eye hospital.

Amazing Journey Inside The
Body
The Concept for the first
month of the academic year was “Internal
Organs”. Special Day was organize to learn some
amazing facts about the different parts of body.
Children are touched and felt the different
objects that were soft, hard, bumpy, pokey and
sticky. Students listened to the sound of Rice,
Coins and Ghunghroos. Children smelt different
objects like a burn toast, garlic, onion etc.
Kids engrossed themselves in different tastes
like Sour, Sweet, Spicy, Salty etc.
